The Football Museum opened in 2008 in São Paulo, and it is one of the most visited museum in the country. The initiative of the State Government and City Hall of São Paulo – with the Municipal Secretariat of Sports and Tourism of São Paulo – with design and support of Fundação Roberto Marinho.
This trajectory starts with Charles Miller, who brought football to Brazil at the end of the 19th century, and goes to the beginning of the sport professionalization and the acceptance of black and mestizos athletes in football teams in the 1920s. One of the big aces of this period was Arthur Friedenreich, a player from São Paulo who was grandson of Germans. The images show from coffee barons to the most humble people who conquered football… and reinvented it!

José Francisco Borges (Bezerros – PE, 1935) is a xylographer and a Brazilian cordel artist. A self-taught person, he began writing and selling cordéis, but his xylograph has made his fame in the region. Normally used to illustrate the cordel literature, today xylograph has reached many other media, being one of the marks of the Brazilian Northeastern Culture.
